My name is David Bedford, and I am from Liverpool. As soon as you say Liverpool, people say, 'Oh, The Beatles!" Well, in my case, that is the right phrase, because I grew up in The Dingle at the bootm of the street where Ringo was born; I went to the same school - though 25 years later - and now live just off Penny Lane. When my children started attending Dovedale School, where John Lennon and George Harrison has attended, my Beatles interest was revived.
Sadly, in 2000, at the age of 35, I was diagnosed with a chronic condition called Fibromyalgia, which meant I had to give up work permanently. To keep the brain active, I began to write for the British Beatles Fan Club, plus started to get interested in building a website for fun. Using Dreamweaver, I undertook a home-based course on web-building, including full html coding (before the wonders of WYSIWYG) and |

created the first website for the fan club. I needed a web host, and came across the
"mad woman screaming" advert in a computer mag. and contacted Compila. They have been so helpful to me as an enthusiastic amateur and got me through the teething troubles, and, nearly 10 years later, are still doing the same. |

| I have recommended all my friends to Compila and have set up various domains and domain names on their behalf, and the service is excellent; I really can't fault it. |

Well, to keep me out of mischief, I began to write a book about The Beatles and Liverpool and, finally, 9 years later, it has just been published. I have set up my own website, still in Dreamweaver, to promote the book, which is at www.liddypool.com. Many people have complimented me on the site, which is gratifying. There is also an online shop that my wife runs at www.beatlesshop.co.uk to deal with the business side of things - I keep clear of that! Again, using hosting with Compila, that was built using Actinic Catalog, which is very straightforward to use, but not always that easy to upload. Thankfully, the boffins at Compila helped me do that.
The book, "Liddypool: Birthplace of The Beatles" has been called "The Best Beatles book in the last 20 years", and hopefully it will go on to be a good, if not best, seller. |

The internet is vital to achieving this, and has enabled me, in spite of my various disabilities, to reach a worldwide audience. I couldn't do that without a reliable web-hosting company like Compila, who let keen amateurs such as me feel like the most important business customer.
Thanks Compila!
